Disneyland Resort Dining Introduction

The only thing that may rival my love of rides at Disneyland is the FOOD. Yes, you read that right, the food. Omg I’m actually drooling right now even thinking about all the deliciousness I’ve tried there. Even their popcorn is to die for! But if it’s your first time heading to the happiest place on earth, let me help break down some important food related info. Disneyland has seven different dining categories throughout the park consisting of over 80 different restaurants in the parks alone. And that doesn’t even include all the carts, kiosks, hotel restaurants and Downtown Disney options. So many options, so little time. For the Disneyland newbie, here’s a quick breakdown of the different dining categories and my quick recommendations for each.

Carts & Kiosks
Think popcorn, churros, Mickey shaped pretzels, fresh fruit, frozen lemonade, etc. These are placed all over the park with lots of different options. You do not need a dining reservation and there is no mobile order option for any of these.

Quick Service
There’s something for everyone at the many quick service dining options on the Disneyland property. You do not need a dining reservation at these locations. Simply walk in, order your food, pay at a counter or cashier station and then seat yourself at an available table and enjoy!

Casual Dining
At a casual dining option, you will be escorted to a table where you can sit back, relax and let a Disney cast member take your order. Reservations are encouraged for casual dining options.

Signature Dining
IMO you should reserve at least one Signature Dining experience during your time at Disneyland. A Signature Dining experience is the perfect place for that next level culinary and environment experience. Reservations required. Click here for my reservation tips and tricks.

Special Dining Events
There’s nothing I love more than treating myself to a special dining package that lets me skip waiting hours to get a good spot for a night time show. Special Dining Packages are pricey, but well worth it at the end of the a long day of walking. These are next level options and reservations are required and go quickly! Get tips on how to snag them here.

Character Dining
Have a meal while meeting your favorite Disney characters up close? It’s a win win. Four different restaurants offer options for Character Dining… Plaza Inn, Storytellers Cafe and Napa Rose in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and the ever classic Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel. If you are only going to pick one, go with the classic Goofy’s Kitchen.
